Each Lion Dance head I craft is rooted in ancestral Southern Chinese tradition and made entirely by hand. Starting from hand-cut bamboo, I build the frame, layer and shape paper, then paint every detail with respect for symbolism, color harmony, and my clients’ wishes.
Every piece is custom-made, ensuring it reflects the unique vision of its owner. Traditional accessories, sheep or rabbit fur, synthetic trims, horsehair, pompoms, eyes, are then added to complete the work.
A head can serve as a striking art object, displayed with or without internal lighting, hung on a wall like a painting, or placed on a stand as a sculpture. At the same time, it is fully functional for Lion Dance clubs to perform their demonstrations.
I can deliver the lion with or without tail and pants, and also perform the awakening ceremony “Eye Dotting Ceremony” (開光 / awakening) either in my workshop or at your location.
